He said he wouldn’t show up but then there he was
at the end of his driveway his dog
barking incessantly behind the decrepit gate
his property afterall is bound and bordered for no entry
beware of dog as if the dog were the ultimate threat
As he crossed the street I clenched again, disappointed in myself for believing his lies; he wouldn’t show up my butt….
I’d fallen for it again. Feeling all safe and secure, confidently uninvaded
as i cast my eyes away I caught the stare of another newly arrived in it a quiet understanding.
Said he no worries please. He is no threat. Do you see the size of his property? He holds so very little, and goodness knows his dog is his loudest threat. Let him stay. Welcome him to the party. For afterall, God holds the greatest territory here. He owns the lion’s share of the real estate. You’ve come this far surely this is clear to you?
That devil crossing the street, grin on his face, breaking his word, he is nothing. Give him pity if you must give him anything. But his little corner of the block gets no vote anymore, in the end.
God holds the greatest real estate in this neighborhood.
