Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter or “darker-half” of the year. Traditionally held November 1, the astrological date this year is November 7.
Synchronistic, I believe.
A group gathers together with me today, November 7. We come together having achieved the goal of arriving; the rest is yet to be.
To come in this way, this energy, is to be open and willing to be transformed by the life of our choices. It is a small difference to come this way, with this opening, than that of mitered corners and trimmed edges, fully finished in our carpentry, no room for remodeling. We do not seek perfection but improvement in this earth-life. Ebb and flow; dark and light; wax and wane.
Samhein is a celebration of light. Of lighting our own light, consciously and purposefully. Yet, this purposefulness is not preconceived on expectations, but rather of preparedness.
I keep these ebbs and flows, the darks and lights, in my mind as I imagine each person coming, having prepared and packed, traveled, and arrived. In their shift from there to here, I hope they each are choosing to light their unique flame and come let it blaze alongside others, openly.
We get to.
Go in, step out; stand alone, gather together; hold on, let go; close our eyes, open them wide.
Choose. It is both-and.
Harmony.
