to destroy a sound with a word.

kahlil gibran

No Gibran, not a sound with word

a word with sound.

The hum that rises or descends upon

a word that is read, seen

with a chill, a quiver,

a vibration it carries life held

gently, silently, preciously.

Sometimes, more often than not anymore,

if spoken, breaks apart, falls, shatters

into unrequited din.

No Gibran a word does not destroy a sound.

It is giving it sound that can destroy the passion of word.

We must speak in silence, those of us here given voice, so that the words we enrobe spring to life.
