Trust what you feel
We’re told to not trust feelings
Sure, but don’t get carried away….
When gazing at a painting
Say in the louvre or your local museum
And your heart swells to the capacity of your caged ribs and thumps the spine of your skull against its thick minded knowings
Take pause
This is real
Something there is telling you what you need to know right now
Where you didn’t know you were in need of such a thing
A memory unleashing and unfurling onto the horizon you keen toward
If you still hesitate to trust-
This feeling pining after your every sense, as trustworthy-
Then take it this feeling
To the artist and discover for yourself the source of its calling
You there before the painting can see in their eyes
If not in their brush in hand then the source of your own hearts ache
And know it for something you have not seen perhaps since before you could remember
Or maybe never seen and there it is now wow
