Standing on the deck pitching stems

spitting pits

ripe rich flavor bursting on lips

while a crack  a bright bridge between my feet and the sky illuminates the air

today I will fix some things

today I will listen to a friend

today I will watch the lightening bugs blink and the daisies sway in the soft plink of rain

today I will give the dog a pat

hug my son

say hello to the nieghbor who walks up the staircase I have just scrubbed free of lichen

this too shall pass we know  we’re told

I remember this I can hold

I can try to sense the summer

even in the darkness of December
