Ah old friend I thought you’d gone for good
I would like to say it is nice to see you again
as if something that had been cherished a friendship worth rekindling
I though try to not lie
I only recognize your gifts
the kindness you intent
once you have departed and left only the debris of your having been
you needn’t make this return I know you still exist
but life now has to take a different turn
there is not enough left to spend it with you
I must now enfold something richer something wiser
than the weight and stilted breath you want to offer at my doorstep
I need a stronghold a fortress a place to rest from the race
or at least to pat the head that holds too much and wish it well even as this
so please panic take your luggage and go
I have no more need for you your lessons have been chewed
their digestion has nourished my soul
now go I need to spend time
in the hope for things unseen
