I read a line that cracked my heart

I am of an age where this could be a concern

yet I am past whatever mile-marker of my life that would necessitate concern of that sort

this crack came quickly predictably yet still a shock

I don’t reject it nor grow fearful

it’s become an ordinary

the wave of life that enters with one thin line of text

read by small twinkling light with the sliver-moon strung above the roofline

and the sun not yet bidding this good day
