I am Patricia Baldwin Seggebruch. I have been creating in paint and form, abstractly for over 30 years. With five books published, an international retreat run since 2010, teaching throughout the world, and host to 11 artists in studios and residencies at my EncaustiCastle in Lexington, Kentucky, I have come to realize my time has come. 

The time, that is, to step up to the plate and with courage and authenticity empower others to take up their own courage, work authentically to their own soul calling, and boldly face forward in their unique talent and creative way. 

AwakenCreative is about owning up to the fullness of your call to create, no exceptions. The time is now.

Time to take intuition and instinct, but also experience, intellect, education, and lineage so that the unique expression that is this amalgamation called you is fully realized through your work.

I believe the world is in an incubation period. A still time, an in-between that is like that of the caterpillar in cocoon; a complete breaking down and reformation.

You, artist, must take the step forward. Despite fear, despite doubt, your soul is calling you forward. You lead the way to the future that can be made in integrity, ingenuity, intuitive responsiveness, and truth. You, artist, have tools and talents, intuitions and impulses needed now, to bring the world forward.

Let’s do this. Gather to make the difference the world is calling for, now.

The skills to take your life and all the experiential accumulations so as to have it speak through your art is what I aim to pass-on to everyone with whom I come in contact.

AwakenCreative is a deepening of the more traditional technique-driven workshop model which I’ve spent the past decades aspiring to instill. It’s time now to dig deep, take all these techniques, and create from a partnership with soul.

You’ve collected all you best creative tools in your quiver; the final element needed to release the tension on your bow is to add your unique soul-signature to your aim.

Your life has a story to tell, a picture to paint, and it wants to flow heartily from your fingertips to your canvas. Through exercises, journal prompts, group activities and heaps of open studio creative time, you can expect to walk away with a rich storehouse of exploration to continue working deeply in the process of applying your life to your creative expression with more resonant harmony. In this way, you artist, begin to open long hidden or even forgotten doorways through which the world can walk to new ways of seeing who you are, and what art is here to tell.

When all is said and done, we are all just walking each other home.
