I encourage you mightily to be brave and jump in; whether you choose to share with a friend also attending, or let things fall into place and look forward to meeting a new roomie, you will be well cared for, indulged, and fully immersed in creative inspiration for the entirety of your stay; it is my goal and obligation to make it so. Delicious locally-sourced and onsite-prepared by me breakfast and lunch are provided each day of your stay. My goal is for you to feel cared for, indulged, inspired and creatively energized like never before~

Jean Pederson: Seductive Surfaces with Water Media
This course will open the door into the exploration of various combinations mixed media with an emphasis on water soluble paints and mediums. You will be encouraged to take risks and work beyond your traditional practice in pursuit of your own personal language.
We will be mixing it up by exploring how everything from gesso, acrylics, inks, and mark making tools, collage and much more will be explored. These techniques can be applied to a variety of subject matter and styles and surfaces to create your own unique artistic statement.
Emphasis will be placed on design and personal style.
Class work will be the bulk of the course with demonstrations, material talk and feedback happening daily. Jean will focus on abstract backgrounds and portraiture. I am an Irish artist, living in Denmark with my much loved Danish husband and I am passionate about painting and teaching and simply wild about encaustic!
I trained initially as an oil painter in a traditional Atelier in Italy after earning a degree in the History of European Painting. Once I tried Encaustic, I was totally hooked… and the rest is history! I have been able to apply my traditional knowledge to encaustic and I found along the way that I just love teaching. I now teach all over the world and I am so inspired by watching all of my students gain so much confidence and reach new levels with their work. Even those with no experience of either encaustic or portraiture can do amazing work! This course excites me, working in conjunction with Jean Pederson as it is, whom I have known and whose work I have admired for many years now. In fact I met Jean when I took her class, and I can say that she is an incredibly inspirational teacher and artist. I know how vital it is to surround yourself with a creative and supportive tribe and I have seen how working with these kindred spirits will spark new levels of meaning in your work and move you to places you only imagined. Join us for this unique workshop in this wonderful place~
