Everyone should behave as if they are the real thing.

You’ll soon see that you do not become self-centered or dramatic,

you become an emblem of possibility

and perhaps that alone is enough

to turn~

Extended version-

Monday begins with check-in, getting settled into rooms, dinner and welcome presentations. This is the time for making initial connections, checking that you have all you need (shopping the pop up EncaustiShop!) and coming to understand the experience that will be EncaustiCamp 2016!

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are studio days. These run from 9:30-12:30, 1:15-4:00 then again 6:15-9:00. Because encaustic studios are unique in that they are ‘hot’, these times are religiously monitored for the sake of safety and equitable use. There will be opportunity before or after these hours for work in materials other than wax if desired.

Thursday is field trip day. Studios are ‘off’ while everyone participants in options to a) studio visit local encaustic artists b) indulge in all things Seattle or c) take a day off and wander around the grounds of Dumas Bay and relax.

Sunday morning will wrap with breakfast and closing presentations.

In and around this schedule a few extras will be taking place.

Mini workshops:

AM and PM small group workshops taught by skilled and newly-skilled instructors. Innovative techniques and materials for use in and with encaustic are the focus. Eight in all to choose from; more information here~

Private critique:

Similar to the private feedback session track two took to in 2015, previous year instructors who are present will offer their expertise in critique-feedback sessions-for those desiring. Bookings will be scheduled on the ground at EncaustiCamp.

Presentations:

Each evening after dinner we will be offering an ‘under the tree’ presentation. This is where topics of artistic merit and concern will be explored; photographing your art, color mixing, making art your career are just some examples of what can be expected in these short but informative presentations. (curated from proposals in similar fashion to the mini workshops)

Curated exhibit:

Daniel Smith Art in downtown Seattle has enthusiastically offered to host an EncaustiCamp exhibit. This year it will be a curated call to all lifers (NOTE: whether you have attended in the past, or will just now do so for the first time in 2016, you are a lifer!) We will hold the artist reception Thursday evening of our fieldtrip day~ More information on this in spring 2016.

Wrap up exhibit:

Show off your work! This is where we share with each other all that’s been created during our busy week. Saturday night after breakdown and clean up will be the time for this. Basically, a great excuse to gather and party altogether~                               More on this in spring as well!

Register~

in love.
