Are you looking for a place to escape to do your art? To begin to create the visions that wake you too early and keep you awake too late? I may have just the spot…..
The EncaustiCastle in Lexington, Kentucky, my home, is a rejuvenating, enlivening and inspiring retreat environment.
With 2018 launching the first group Artist-in-Residence program through the EncaustiCastle, I expect it to become more so.
The design is for practicing encaustic artists to gather together for two weeks in shared studio space, single accommodation bedrooms, and communal dining and lounge rooms to fully engage and indulge in the practice of this ancient, organic medium.
Room for just five encaustic artists will exist in each residency session. These twice-yearly opportunities have been created in the hope of furthing-on not only each individuals pursuit of this dynamic, inclusive medium but also drawing attention to the medium for artists, creatives, and art collectors across the board.
The EncaustiCastle residency is inclusive of accommodations and studio space. Meals and transportation are the responsibility of each artist. A generous stipend from Enkaustikos is being offered for this first round of residencies; more information on this will be provided to selected artists.
Encaustic holds deep integrity, and breadth of tremendous wonder that can not rest in the annals of history nor in the catacombs of higher education. It does, in its inclusive nature, avail itself to all, and serves artists well in allowing the expanding, expounding and experiencing of just how far they can take this medium in their own creative lives.
Go deeper in your encaustic practice.
Look to this residency as a place to do so, if you choose~
(NOTE: residencies at the encausticastle are non-instructional and self-directed. I am onsite managing the house and will coordinate the exhibit with selected AiR. This residency is intended for artists with working experience in encaustic. For new instruction contact Patricia directly or check out the workshop page)
